Mermaids
Water nymphs and mermaids are the mystical
creatures of the water. They look like humans only mermaids have tails instead of legs. The Lady of the Lake in
The Story of King Arthur was a water nymph. Water nymphs are faeries of a sort, only they dwell in lakes and ponds.
The nymphs prefer fresh water while mermaids live in the seas. Each are equipped with
beautiful voices that lull men towards them. Usually a mermaid
will sing until the man has cast himself into the sea out of longing. Mermaids do not do this out of spite; they
are convinced that someday a man will be able to live with them under the sea, so they continuously try to lure
men to them to see if one will live. Once, a man actually did survive with help from a sea-witch and now lives happily
in a coral castle. His name is King Neptune of Atlantis.
