Guess-the-theme contest!
"Virtually everything under the sun" - would be an appropriate description of the entries we received from Rhodes scholars as well as other visitors to our homepage!
As soon as the contest was advertised, a prompt-and-correct entry came from unknown@jamie.magd.ox.ac.uk who cleverly called himself Fred Flintstone! (Better luck next time, Jamie!).
Incorrect guesses ranged from "Disney Magic" to "Caribbean", and from "Colonial England and India" to "Titanic".
There were some entires that conveyed the obvious - "Why we are so superior" ;-)
Those who wanted to play it safe preferred to put it vague - "Where the world is Carmen Santiago" (sic), etc.
Counting indirect answers like "Latin", "Samba/Salsa", we received four correct entires (excluding Fred, who is the Committee.)
The clear winners are Diane de Kerckhove and Richard Pan who got it just perfect - "Carnival!" Bingo!
Guido, who is in-charge of prizes, has decided that your surpriZe would be a guided tour to Trinity College lawns ;-) Congrats!
