The Wonderful World of Wrestling

Greco-Roman Wrestling

Of the countless sports on the market today, wrestling is my favorite. I like it more than traditional team sports because it is so dynamically individual. Each wrestler is out to beat himself, to be better than his best. It's all about the mindset of a wrestler that attracts me, well cute boys in singlets attract me too, but one can only look for so long. I really like people who wrestle because they possess incredible tenacity, integrity, concrete discipline and steel will, but they also have incredible smiles. I have seen state champion wrestlers nonchalantly walk up to their next opponents and laugh like old friends. Both know one of them will soon be beaten but it does not seem to matter all that much. I like that.

Just fyi:
My three favorite moves, in no particular order are...

  • Fireman's Carry
  • Banana Split
  • Saturday Night Special

Olympic Wrestling

Allright. You caught me. I don't know all that much about Olympic Wrestling I do watch it when it's Olympics time (well, if I remember). But here's a cool picture.

- Garth Brooks (center) Honorary Team Captain for 1996 U.S. Olympic Wrestling Team with 1995 World Champions(L to R): Kevin Jackson, Dennis Hall, Bruce Baumgartner, Kurt Angle and Terry Brands. Check out the USA Wrestling Site .... It's a good one.

Professional Wrestling Over the last year or so, most likely in order to fill some craving for wrestling, I have begun watching professional wrestling via the World Wrestling Federation . I know that it's not wrestling as I know it. I used to make fun of it too... but it is HIGHLY entertaining (for me watching it and for anyone watching me, I've been told), and if you watch VERY carefully, sometimes you can catch a familiar move. That makes me happy, as everyone can plainly see.
I can't go without a list of my favorite superstars, can I?

These are most of my favorite people in the WWF. There are a few missing, but I am sure I will fill them in later.
