The New Tempest Abilities

The New abilities

Tempest has 4 new abilities. Only one is a real creature ability while two are a type of creature and one is an ability on an interupt, sorcery or instant.

The New Abilities!

Buyback This new ability is on an instant, interupt or sorcery. It is sort of like Hammer of Bogarden, but not quite. A recap: Hammer of Bogarden. Casting Cost: 1RR Type: Sorcery Text: Does 3 damage to target creature or player. 2RRR: Return Hammer of Bogarden to your hand. Use this ability only during your upkeep and only if Hammer of Bogarden is in your graveyard.

There is one main difference between this new ability and Hammer is that the Buyback cost has to be played along with the casting cost of the spell. For instance, Capsize. It's casting cost is 1UU and it has a buyback of 3. So for the buyback ability to take effect you would have to pay a casting cost of 4UU. Got it?

Slivers

This is a new type of creature that gives all other creatures of that type a certin ability. For example, the Horned Sliver reads "All slivers gain trample". There are 11 slivers total (counting the artifact-creature sliver that doesn't do anything but count as a sliver) and if you have them all in play you have 11 2/2 and 3/3 trampling, flying, creatures, with first strike, that are immmune to summoning sickness, with regenerate, that can be pumped for either +1/+0 or +0/+1 and can be sacrificed to draw a card or make an opponent discard a card. That's pretty cool!

Shadow

This is exactly like flying. Sort of. It is like flying because they cannot be blocked, except by creatures with shadow. But it's also a blocking restriction. Creatures with shadow cannot block anything except creatures with shadow. Got it?

Licids

These are perhaps the strangest type of creature existing. They can be turned into creature enchantment. For example the Stinging Licid reads "U1 T: Stinging Licid loses this ability and becomes a creature enchantment that reads 'Whenever enchanted creature becomes tapped, Stinging Licid deals 2 damage to creatures controller' instead of a creature. Move Stinging Licid onto target creature. You may pay U to end this effect." 1/1. Got it?
