CLOGGED DRAINS:
When clogged with grease, pour a cup of salt and a cup of baking soda into the drain followed by a kettle of boiling water. The grease will usually dissolve immediately.
COPPER POTS: Fill a spray bottle with vinegar and 3 T of salt. Spray solution liberally on copper pot. Let set for awhile, then rub clean.
-Dip lemon halves in salt and rub.
-Rub with Worcestershire sauce or ketchup. The tarnish will disappear.
-clean with toothpaste and rinse.
FLOORS: To remove scuff marks on your vinyl/wax floors, use mineral spirits.
-Use a pencil eraser to wipe off heel marks.
-Cat litter applied to fresh stains on your driveway, garage floors or walks is very absorbent and soaks up most stains.
-For spilled wax on carpet, use a brown paper bag as a blotter & run a hot iron over it, the paper bag will absorb the wax.
FORMICA TOPS
Use knitting yarn to erase crayon marks.
PLASTIC CONTAINERS
-Place crumbled up newspaper (black & white only) in sealed container overnight to get rid of foul odors.
SINKS
-Use a cloth dampened with rubbing alcohol to remove water spots from stainless steel.
TEA KETTLES
-To remove lime deposits, fill with equal parts of vinegar & water. Bring to a boil & let stand overnight.
WINDOWS
-Use crumbled up newspaper to get out streaks and a nice shine.
FURNITURE CARE
-Solutions for removing white water rings:
-Dampen a soft cloth with water & put a dab of toothpaste on it. For stubborn stains, add baking soda.
-Make a paste of butter or mayonnaise & cigarette ashes. Apply to spot & buff away.
-Apply a paste of salad oil & salt. Let stand briefly. Wipe & polish.
