Spiders Web
Once more, she
draws breath -
The distant cries of thunder;
The scattered leaves
Across the lawn;
The pools of water
Sparkling in the sun...
She closes her eyes
Once more -
The memory of storms
Which pass
And come again
Like so many unshed tears...
And she is
Walking in the rain -
Her face
Half smiling
Half broken
As if there
Were somewhere else to go...
Like a dream of tomorrow -
A fragment of yesterday -
The spider's web
Glistens in the rain.
She cradles close
Her secret pain.
