Money Saving Tips

A list of products that I use and/or reuse to help save some money

Baking Soda
Egg Shells
Jello Cups
Magic Erasers
Paper Shredder
Shaving Cream
Tin Cans
Toilet Paper / Paper Towel Rolls
Tuna Cans

Baking Soda

This stuff is good for about everything. A little baking soda and water is a great cleaner. Baking soda and vinegar make a great mad scientist / volcano explosion! (The last one is great entertainment for the kids)

Egg Shells

Crumble dry empty egg shells to make a faux mosaic medium. Glue crumbled shells over a piece of paper. Paint when dry for a mosaic look.

Jello Cups

Reuse empty jello cups as handy dipping cups for ketchup, bar-b-q sauce, and more!

Magic Erasers

Not a secret, these work! My kids tend to find EVERY permanent marker I have. They then decorate my walls with them. :o( In comes the magic eraser and, viola! The kids can still clean up their own mess (and it sure beats repainting)!

Paper Shredder

The leftover, cut up pieces of paper from the paper shredder make handy packing materials.

Shaving Cream

Ok, the obvious is to use it to shave with. :o) I also put the kids in the tub (or outside when it's warm) and we make a mess with it! Such a fun thing to do (and I pick up the shaving cream cans when they are on sale for $0.50 per big ol can). I recently made colored shaving cream by adding a bit of washable paint. This also is helping to help teach my youngest his colors.

Tin Cans

Clean out and dry tin cans to hold almost anything! Paint or decorate as desired. I use my decorated tin cans to hold pencils, pens, scissors, and smaller paint brushes.

Toilet Paper / Paper Towel Rolls

Once the toilet paper is gone, give the empty roll to the kids! My kids love to use them as binoculars. I've also put pennies inside and taped off both ends for a fun shaker. My MIL used to give the empty rolls to her (late) hamster.

Tuna Cans

Use empty tuna cans to organize your junk drawer. Works well with the plastic cup and lid that holds paper baking cups.

There's more to come soon! My goal is to add at least one a day (or the equivalent).
