Elephants In
The Spee-Lunker Cave

I have been told by a former SFOT employee that there were elephants on a wall in The Cave, but I never remember seeing them.  This accompanied a rumor that the ride was originally planed as a jungle darkride.  Now, another former SF employee, Cecilia Harsch presents proof below, in the form of a photograph of the wall.  Notice there are two pachyderm likeness'.   If there were just one, it would be unusual enough.  But there are two almost identical.  Notice the "eyebrows".  Are they "golden arches"?  Could these have been tornadoes?  What does it all mean?  Any ideas or inside information from you knowledgeable folks out there?  I'd really love to hear from anyone who actually worked on building the 1960's props and sets.  Scroll down to photo below.
