I stood--and watched--in amusement
I stood—and watched—in amusement—
One day—when the sun complied—
As earthbound raindrops—streak’d the leaves
In liquid crystals—as they fell
And each infinitesimal droplet—
Every separate—shining droplet—
Twisting ‘round in beams of light—
In passing—stop’d to wink at me
I smiled back—in delight—
And stretch’d my hand—toward the twink’ling spheres—
To catch one—on my fingertips—
And blink—as it disappeared
