Cloak of Secrets
By the light of the moon,
As bright as at noon,
She walks under starry skies.
Her joy and her sorrow,
Her fate come the ‘morrow
Are reflected in her eyes.
Shrouded in sadness,
The world is but madness;
Of this she takes no part.
To love? She won’t dare;
She avoids it with care—
She seems to be guarding her heart.
Many times it’s been broken
By words left unspoken;
A love that flickers and dies.
Pain and goodbyes,
Sorrows and lies;
Her spirit forlornly cries.
You look at her there
And you are not aware
Of the frustration she tries to hide.
She masks her depression,
She wears no expression—
Her feelings stay locked up inside.
