1981 Camaro Z28

I am going to give you the low down on my car. I bought it in early September 1997. I have put a lot of hard work into the car and am sorry to part with it, but I have to get on with the rest of my life.

When I bought the car, it was from a little used car lot in my hometown. I knew the guy because he was my friend's uncle, but that doesnm't really matter. He told me that the car was originally a sound car for Pioneer. I don't know whether he was feeding me a line of bull to get me to buy the car or not. But there is a lot of wiring in the trunk, that looks like stereo wiring. It isn't original that is about all I can tell you.

To tell you the honest truth, this car would be an excellent project car. It has only been winter driven once, which was last winter. It was a really mild winter for my region, so I don't think it really hurt the car that much. It has very little body rust. It has a rebuilt Targetmaster 350 under the hood, not the stock engine which kind of disappointed me. It has the Air Induction hood scoop on it, it isn't hooked up though. It also has just a 3-speed transmission. I think the car tops out at about 160-180 kph (probably about 85-100 mph) Not sure though, the speedo tops out at 140 kph

The interior is in near immaculate condition. When I first got the car, the entire interior was sprayed with some speckle paint for interiors, the kind of stuff you can pick up at Wal-Mart for 5 bucks or something. It looks good until it starts flaking off. So I spent a few days scraping all that stuff off and it actually looks not that bad now. The only bad thing is that the idiot who had the car before me butched the door panels, to put speakers into them. Also in the rear package tray, they had cut into, to install 2 10" subwoofers. The wires running to the trunk for the amp and subs run over top of the carpet instead of under it.

The paint job is in good condition. There is the odd chip or scrath that has been touched up, with touch up paint. The Z28 striping on the driver's fender is missing the bottom two stripes, which can be replaced pretty easily I think. It is also missing the front ground effects. It was in a slight fender-bender before I got it that broke it. I have looked into purchasing a replacement, but it would have costed me about $500. A little more than a high school student like me can afford.

It has new tires all around, American Racing Rims, new shocks, minor replacement parts all-around. It is a good little car, and I must say it has got me through a year, so it has got to be tough.
