WHO IS JOHN GOTTI?
John Joseph Gotti was the head of the Gambino Family in New York City.
...From a cocky kid, he rose to be the most powerful don of the Mafia in New York City. John Gotti is definitely the Al Capone of this generation and perhaps the last. Gotti and Capone are the only two gangsters to have a front cover pictrue of themselves on "Time Magazine."

Gotti was born on October 27, 1940. His brothers were Vincent, Gene, Richard, Peter. The furthest Gotti ever got was to Franklin K. Lane Junior High School were he droped out. As most of the gangsters start out Gotti was in a gang before he got into La Cosa Nostra or the mob it was called Fulton-Rockaway Boys. Gotti did work he started as a Coat Presser in a small garment factory,Truck driver helper for Barnes Express Company, Hijacker, Contract Killer, Capo (Captain) of Bergin Crew, and ended up as the boss Gambino Family.

1957, Assaulted a smalltime hood who owed him money.
1957, Met and worked for Carmine Fatico.
1957, Killed two black gamblers with Willie 'Boy' Johnson
1957, Gotti caught stealing copper from a construction site.
1959, Caught again in gambling raid.
1960 Married Victoria Di Giorgio.
1961 April, Daughter Angela born.
1963, Mafia-informant Joseph Valachi testifies before the Senate.
1963, Arrested in a stolen AVIS car.
1968, Safe Streets Act.

1982, Sal Ruggiero died in plane crash.
1984, Gotti becomes a grandfather.

1985 December 2, Neil Dellacroce died of cancer.
1985 December 15, Paul Castellano and Tommy Bilotti (Castellano's Lieutenant) killed.

1986 April 13, Frankie 'Loc' Locascio appointed underboss.
1986, Salvatore 'the Bull' Gravano replaced Joe Gallo as consigliere.

1991, Held in Metropolitan Correctional Center.
1991 November 24, Gravano fired his lawyer and cooperated with FBI
1992 March 2, Gravano testifies against Gotti.
1992 April 2, Gotti convicted.
1992 June 23, Gotti sentenced to life imprisonment without possibility of parole
1992 June 24, Transferred to a federdal penitentiary in Marion, Illinois.
1993 October, Gotti's appeal rejected.
