Tita's Hale 'Aina* (*Restaurant)

Tita's Hale Aina invites you to come and enjoy the food and atmosphere. We wish to create a bit of Hawaii, a magical and spiritual haven, where life is a bit slow and the people a bit friendlier. The food and service here is created with much ALOHA.
So take your time and enjoy! If you're in a rush, we strongly recommend you "hang loose".
Remember it is just as important to feed ones soul as well as ones body! "Hele mai", come join us for a while; get away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. Hours Tuesdays thru Saturdays 9:00am to 10:00pm and Sundays 9:00am to 3:00pm.

PLUS!!! Don't forget... Tita's serve Lau Lau at every last Friday of each month! SEE YOU ALL THERE!!! You can't afford to miss this! ONOLICIOUS You Know!!!

Tita's Hale Áiná At this bright little cafe a block from Castro and Market, you can get Hawaiian breakfasts (eggs with linguisa or Spam, Portuguese "French toast," or made-to-order Portuguese donuts)malasada any time of day. Dinners encompass skillfully prepared "local food" including kalua pig, sparkling chicken adobo, or Korean-style pork ribs, all with rice and macaroni salad or, still for just a pittance, a combo plate with all those plus lomi salmon and broiled mahi-mahi. House-baked goods are excellent, and the haupia (coconut custard) pie on a bittersweet-chocolate cookie crust is a sheer delight. ALOHA!

At dinner, Scoop tried the Kalua pig, cabbage and rice plate, and was delighted to taste pork like you would get on the islands--slow-cooked with smoky flavors in ti and banana leaves.

We don't get a lot of warm tropical days in San Francisco, and certainly nothing that would make you think of Hawai'i. But to step into Tita's in the Castro, and you may well feel transported to a castaway beachfront!
