Len Mwo and Welcome to the Legend of The Sleeping Lady...

Greetings!!

Hoops!! You've finally arrive at "The Island of the Sleeping Lady." I am for sure that you might wonder where my island got its name,"The island of the sleeping lady " from. So let me take this time to tell you! Here is the Legend!!!!!

Part of Kosrae's distinctive mountain skyline is an outline of the profile of a woman lying on her back. One can see the head with part of the hair spreading behind and the breast and body extended to the southeast. At the beginning of time, the powerful gods planned to create this mountains in the shape of a man. Later, they thought that if they made it into shape of a man it wouldn't produce any seeds known as people. So they created the mountain in the shape of a woman. It was known that this woman was menstruating at the time, and today there is a place in the deep jungle which would be between her thighs- where a bright red soil can be found. The Kosraean men used used to fetch that special red soil to mix a paint to their canoes. The area was considered a semi-sacred place and only the bravest men dared to go there. This woman had three children, two boys and one girl. The lady told her children that when she died, the older son was to stay in Lelu, and the word "Lelu" means "Lake." She told the other boy that he was to stay in Tafunsak, and the word "Tafunsak" means "Half wood and half Human." She told her daughter that she had to stay in Malem, and the word "Malem" means "First Woman." The lady told her daughter that when she had a child, it was to go and stay in Utwac and the word "Utwac" meaans "where things come from or next producing seeds." Everything
