Reportedly, the best selling album of all time, Darkside of the Moon is definately a 'psychedelic sound spectacular'. The album evolved from several live performances in 1972, most notably at London's Rainbow Theatre in February that year. The Floyd produced the entire album, this, their eighth, with all the lyrics written by Roger Waters. Released in March 1973, the album was an instant success and became ubiquitous fare on classic rock radio stations ever since.
Personally, every single time I listen to it I hear something new. It was recorded at Abbey Road Studios on their new 24 track tape machines, the stereo is tremendous and we have engineer Alan Parsons (Alan Parsons Project)to thank for his mastery of the controls. This is another one of those gleaming jewels in my collection...
