This nice 'period piece' was released in 1969 by International Artists, the Houston based company that handled 'the elevators'. Bubble Puppy, like 'the elevators',was from Austin, Texas. One of several 'garage-rock' bands that flourished in that area in those days. This was their only album but it contains the #14 on the charts hit, 'Hot Smoke and Sassafrass'. I also like the ballad and title song, 'A Gathering of Promises'. Bubble Puppy evolved to later record as "Demian" for those of you who care to extend my research. The group consisted of Todd Potter on guitar, Rod Prince on guitar and vocals, David Fore on drums, and Roy Cox on bass. They had alot of potential but unfortunately poor management by Lelan Rogers (Kenny Rogers brother) doomed the group, and many others like Red Crayola, for instance, to obscurity.
