Well here is the Newsletter I have been promising.

We are having another Cockerill Family Reunion.

It will be held at The Arena in Roblin, Manitoba on July 29-30-31 & August 1st. It will be very informal, if you have a camper & wish to bring it there will be parking at the Arena as well as the different campgrounds in the area or relatives yards. There is also Hotels & Motels in Roblin & surrounding area, the list will be at the bottom with all the info & phone numbers. There is a baseball diamond, horseshoe pits, swimming pool next door, so bring your stuff. If you have an instrument that you play bring it along maybe some of you will get together & have a jam session.

Saturday night is the big supper with a DJ. It is being catered & the tickets for the supper are on sale now. I have the tickets & will only be on sale till July 1, 2011, that way I have a head count for the caterers & the alcohol. The alcohol will be sold for a fee. The tickets for the supper are $20.00 for adults & $13.00 for children ages 2-12. There will also be a supper catered to on Sunday as well I also have the tickets for that, Adults $10.00 & children $8.00, cheques can mailed to my mailing address below. You will be able to pick up your tickets & name tags at the areana, please indicate when you send your cheque how many adults & how many children you are paying for, also could I get the names of all attending. The Knight of Columbus are putting on a breakfast Sunday morning from 9-1:00 for a fee. Paul Webber has designed a beautiful button for the reunion that will be on sale. The Arena will be open from 9:00 am till 2:00 with the exception on Saturday it will be open till 3:00 am. We need time to be able to cleanup & get our rest as well LOL. I don’t know for sure but a few people have said there is another function going on at the same time, so please be sure to book early as they are going fast. I have located some more accommadations to try, some you might have to drive a few miles. Also Regina & possible other areas have places you can rent campers. The information is at the bottom of the newsletter. I can not stress enough to PLEASE PLEASE pass this reunion & accommodation information on to as many family & relatives as you can. I will put an ad in the Roblin Review to see in anyone in Roblin is willing to open their homes to a Bed & Breakfast. I will post any of that info on my face book group page called (Cockerill History) so if you are on face book or join face book request me as a friend & join the group. That is where any new info or questions can be asked & answered so keep checking there for updates.

I have been working on the Family History Tree for some years now & will be looking for info. I could sure use all the help I can get with filling in all the missing family members that I don’t have. I could also use pictures of family members, if possible & if you don’t mind could you make me copies of them to keep & write the names on the back, it would just make things easier for me, if not I will have a scanner there that I can just scan the picture & give them back. As for the pictures if they could be of the individual not a group picture, it is harder & they get blurrier when I have to try to crop someone out of the group picture. Also I have been collecting & putting in my filing cabinet Birth, Marriage & Death Certificates if you don’t mind I would love to have a copy not the originals, of Ancestors that you might be in possession of or even your own if you wish.
If you wish you can send anything ahead by email or mail to:

Mary Angus Yanke is working on a Family Book & here are a few things she would like to inform you of before coming to the Reunion.

FAMILY HISTORY BOOK
Hello! A few people* have been busily working on our family’s history which will all be put together into a family history book. Next summers’ family reunion gives us a great chance to get more of this family history collected. Anyone interested in being included in the history book will need to send or bring the following 9 basic facts about themselves, their parents, and their children, which will form the cornerstone for your family’s story:
1.Full Name 2. Birth Date/Place 3. Baptism Date/Place 4. Occupation 5. Marriage Date/Place 6. Death Date/Place 7. Burial Date/Place 8. Cause of Death 9. Addresses where you have lived. (The more specific you are able to be with places, the better: For example, the name of the church that weddings, etc. took place is better than the name of just the community; Grave location or number is better than just the cemetery, etc. when that information is known.) Pictures will also be included in the family history book, so I will be at the reunion with digital scanners so that any pictures you bring for the book can be copied without the owners needing to let go of the originals of them. If you decide to send pictures for the book instead, please do not send the originals – copies can be made relatively easily and at a low cost these days at Wal-Mart photo centers, Staples, or Drug Store photo centers by either scanning them or making copies of them there. At the very least, these 3 pictures for each person are what I’m looking for: 1. Individual 2. Wedding 3. Family If you don’t have current individual or family pictures available, I have arranged to have them done at the reunion – but you’ll need to make an appointment for this. The information on how to contact me to make appointments to have photographs taken is at the end of this article. Please keep in mind that if you send information and/or pictures before the reunion, I will be able to make your ‘page’ available for you at the reunion to check so that you will be able to ensure that it was all recorded correctly and that you like the picture of yourself that will be used, etc. Many people are providing additional information to these basic facts and some are writing their own families’ story. So, this is the time to go through those boxes of family memorabilia and decide which of it you’d like to have included in a comprehensive family history. Many people have come forward with wonderful pictures and documents in addition to those I’m suggesting above - these will add a great deal to the history book and be enjoyed by everyone. As examples, this has included birth/baptism/marriage/death certificates and registrations, old wills, entries in family bibles, homesteading documents, newspaper articles, letters, birth/death announcements, wedding and funeral cards and programs, obituaries, wedding invitations, war service documents, graduation certificates, awards, poems and stories written by family members, immigration papers and other photographs - of family members, homes and heirlooms. If it’s something that you kept because it’s important to you, it’s very likely to be valued by other family members as well. Acknowledgement for contributions of each document and picture will be made in the book, and anything like this that you would like to have included is welcome! If you bring them to the reunion, I can scan them in there, just like pictures are done.
