Zac woke up the next morning and stretched. He got up and got dressed. He looked rather
handsome when his mother came upstairs and said he had a phone call.
"I'll take it up here mom."
He looked for the phone and finally found the small cordless phone in one of Taylor's
Doc Martins. "Hello?" He answered.
"Hi Zac. It's me, Deon."
"Hey."
"You still wanna do something today?"
"Yeah."
"OK. I'll come pick you up."
"Ok. I'll be waiting outside."
"I'll be there in five minutes, ok?"
"Ok, see you then. Bye."
"Bye."
He hung up the phone, grabbed a small jacket and sat outside. Five minutes later, Deon's
car pulled in the driveway. "Hey Deon!" He said as he got in the car. "Hey Zac."
"Where are we going?" Zac asked.
"Anywhere you wanna go. How about my house."
"Ok, cool."
They got in her driveway, and she stopped the car. They got out and she lead him up to her
bed room. He was shoked. She had pink walls and a white frilly bed. She also had
little brown teddy bears all over the place. "Nice room. Cute." He said.
"Thanks."
She sat down on the bed and turned on the TV. They spent the whole day laying around
on her bed laughing, watching TV and listening to music. They BOTH had a blast.
Deon hadn't even seriously liked him until they spent the day together. 'I still think it's messed
up that I'm seeing a person that is 4 years younger than me. But he's great!'
Once it got dark, they started getting quieter. He wanted to kiss her, she wanted to kiss him.
They just weren't sure. "Deon?"
"Yes?"
"Can I. . . Can I kiss you?"
"MmmmHmmm."
He placed a hand on her face a kissed her. He kissed her like he just started kissing Nikki. (For you
people who have small brains, he french kissed her) They took it a little farther. Not much, but some.
Just enough to make Zac think he liked her more than Nikki.
"Deon?"
"What about Nikki?"
"I dunno. Lemme deal with her."
"Ummm..."
She cut him off with a kiss. An hour later, Zac was at home with Tay, Ike and Lauren. Diana
and Walker had gone to bed, along with Zoe, Mackie, Avery and Jessie.
"So Zac, where were you today? Nikki was looking for you." Lauren asked.
"Oh, I was out with . . . Tom. The guy from school."
"Oh." She replied, not believing a word of it.
The next morning, Nikki woke up late. '1:38' is what she saw on the clock.
She ran outside and got the mail. "for mom, mom, mom, mom. Me?"
There was no return address on it, she opened it and there was a small piece of paper attached
to it. It read 'If Zac is your boyfriend, he sure as Hell wasn't lastnight'
"Oh my God." She gasped.
She pulled on some shorts and ran across the street to the Hanson's house and banged on the door.
"Hi Ike, is Zac there?"
"No he isn't. He left earlier this morning. What's wrong Nikki?"
"Look!" She said as she threw the letter in his face.
"Jesus. Tay! Lauren! Commere!"
They all discussed it and came up clueless. "Nikki, stay here until he gets home, ok? Then
we'll see where he's been."
The four teens were sitting on the couch in the dark at 12:00am when the front
door creaked open. "Bye." He whispered. They all heard him kiss someone and shut the door.
As the door shut, Lauren turned the lights on.
"Well Zac, where have you been?" Nikki asked.
"I was out with Tom."
"Zac, honey, are you a homo sexual? We heard you kiss whomever you were with."
"No I am not."
"What's this all about?" Nikki asked throwing the note in his face.
"Look Nikki, what it is is a letter from someone that enjoys spending time with me, someone
I enjoy spending time with and we get along better than you and I do. I may love
you but I love her too. And she loves me."
"Who is it Zac? Who is it?"
"No one. That's none of your business is it?"
"Well Zac then I guess it's over isn't it."
"I guess so."
Nikki turned around and cried in Isaac's arms.
"It's ok Nikki. Shhhhh. Don't cry. Shhhh."
"Zac, man, you can tell me who it is. Can't you?" Lauren asked.
"I guess so. Only if you PROMISE not to tell Tay or Ike. OR NIKKI!"
"Ok, I promise."
"Ok, it's . . . Deon."
"Deon?"
"Oh God."
"See! That's why I didn't wanna tell you."
"Well what about Nikki?"
"I love her. I really really do. But I wanna be with Deon."
"Ok, I respect your opinions and ideas and you know I'll always be there for you."
"I know. Thanks Lauren." They hugged and walked back into the living room where
Nikki was asleep on the couch with her head in Isaac's lap and he was staring at her
very happily. Lauren walked back over to Taylor and they walked up to their room with Zac
following.
The next morning Zac woke up at the same time he had been waking up and returning at the same
time. This went on for the next month. One day Zac got up and told Deon he couldn't make it.
But he invited her over for dinner at 7:00 with the whole family. Once 7:00 rolled around
Deon knocked on the door. Ike answered. "What do you want?"
"I'm here to see Zac."
"Umm, ok. His girlfriend is coming over soon, so you may wanna hurry."
"Ok."
She found Zac and sat with him. "Ike, Tay, Lauren, Nikki, I wanna re-introduce you to
Deon, my new girlfriend."
Ike's mouth dropped, so did Taylor's and Nikki's.
"Ok, Zac. I wanna re-introduce you to MY new girlfriend, Nikki."
"Nikki? You are going out with Ike?"
"Yeah."
"Oh. Cool."
"Well, now, I'd like to re-introduce you to MY new girlfriend, Lauren." Taylor said.
They all laughed and sat down for dinner. Once dinner was over, Lauren and Taylor
went upstairs to watch TV, Ike, Nikki, Zac and Deon went to the living room to talk.
"I'll be right back Zac." Deon said as she went out to her car. "Me too, Nikki, I'm going
to the bathroom."
Zac looked at Nikki. "You know I still love you, right?"
"I guess so. You know I still love you too, right?"
"Yeah. I just wanna be with Deon."
"That's good, cause I just wanna be with Isaac."
"Friends?"
"Yeah."
"Cool."
They hugged and continued talking.
As Isaac was walking out of the bathroom, he bumped into Deon who was coming in
from the car.
"Hey Deon, since you are gonna be spending a little more time around here, I guess
we should call a truce."
"Yeah. Friends?"
"Friends."
"Cool." They also hugged and walked back into the living room. It was a happy normal
family again.
