Bob was born June 30th 1946. Son of Valentine Manos and annoying little brother to Valerie. We wouldn't go so far to say that Bob was a bad child but he did have quite a few hairbrushes broken over his bottom. Growing up in Brooklyn during the early 50's was very boring to Bob so he invented things to do. They lived in a cold water flat, which means they had no heat. So they boiled their bath water and used gas heaters. One day Bob stuck a broom handle in the gas heater and ran around with it like a torch. Uh-oh looks like another broken handbrush!
There was a sweet side to Bob as a child. He used to love stuff animals and sleep with them all. His favorite was a chimp he called Zippy - Zippy the Chimp.
Bob went to camp during the summer where he learned archery. He became quite good at it too; winning a ton of medals. He could shoot an arrow up in the air and have it land on the bulleye several feet away.
Bob served on a naval ship during the Vietnam War. When he returned he met Pat while playing handball in the park. He was with some big fat blonde chick which Pat didn't like. After returning to the park a few times he & Pat developed a friendship and a killer handball team.
They got married on April 23rd 1969 and had their first child Lisa the following July. A year later another daughter Patti, boochie, joined them. In between they took a break, bought a new washing machine and then had Anthony in 1973.
When they became too old for handball they started bowling. Going to tournaments whenever possible and winning A LOT of trophies. The kids eventually following in their footsteps. Trophies & medals graced their home.
Somewhere in between Bob began playing chess. Studying the masters - Bobby Fischer one of his favorite. The gamlet was his secret.
Time marched on and Bob was finally able to open his own bowling pro shop, Pat's Pro Shop which is still in it's original location - Herrill Lanes. Anthony learned the pro shop business and is running it today.
On May 19th, 1992, Bob & Pat became known as Grandpa Bob & Mona when Lisa had a baby boy named, James.
James was followed by Taylor, then Danny. Patti not to be left out had Brianna - bananna. And then finally little Cassidy joined the family in 2002.
Bob touched a lot of peoples lives during his short time here. He will be missed and never forgotten.
