Before we get to the tournament rules there are a couple of things everyone needs to know about our
league.
The first thing is that the vast majority of people who join our league are honest and fair minded folk
who just enjoy playiing literati and chatting with friends. However there are a few who will try to cut
corners and win at the cost of their good name and character building opportunities. For those people
please pay close attention when you read #7 on this page. We have a zero tolerance policy
on cheating. Please do not try it here. You may think you can get away with it and you may do for a little
while but we have some very sharp and very experienced TDs and it won't take long to weed out those who
think they can come in here and use a cheat program to win.
The second thing is that we are a family oriented league. We do not want our members to have to leave the
lounge if one of their children or significant other wants to watch them play so please use your good
common sense and not use language that you wouldn't want your children to see in the lobby. There is
nothing wrong with good natured flirting and carrying on like adults will but there is no reason to ever
be vulgar or too explicit in your language and conduct in the lobby. Another good reason to keep the lobby
clean is that there are a lot of potential members playing in beginner 8 and we don't want to turn them off if
they are thinking of joining our league. Also no one wants to spend their leisure time on a computer
fussing or cursing or watching people fuss and curse so please don't do it in our lobby. You can talk
freely at the tables or in private messages so there is no need to clutter up the lobby with a bunch of
trash.
These are some of the default rules that
apply to every tournament game to help things run more smoothly and to make sure
every match is reported correctly and to ensure that everyone in every tournament
is treated fairly openly and honestly at all times.
1. You must wait for the TD to get to the
table and signal you by saying GL U 2
that they are ready for you to start. This is so the TD can make sure the timer and
things are set correctly and see that you start playing the game right so there
will be less times you may need a re-start.
2. You must wait for the TD to signal you by saying GG U 2 that they know the game
is over and who won and that there is no conflict going on about anything to leave
the table. This will help the TD to correctly report the match and if there is some
conflict the TD can usually take care of it right then instead of later trying to
remember who said what and who did what.
3. You must report the outcome of your match in the lobby after every game. This
will help the TD double check they are correct on who won and be able to advance to
the next round a little faster. This also helps show you are a good sport about
winning and/or losing cause it's all about having fun anyway.
4. Please try not to multi-task during a tournament game so the games will flow
smoothly and quicker and playing a game on another table or in another lounge
during a tournament is not allowed.
5. If your computer freezes or you get booted during a tournament game that is
timed and already started you only have the time remaining on your timer to get
back. If you don't get back before your timer runs out then you forfeit the game.
This is not meant to be harsh and though we understand it is usually not your fault
that things happened like they did we have to keep the tournament going as smoothly
and as quickly as possible and we can't restart every game evey time someone gets
booted or company arrives or the telephone rings ect.
6. When the TD posts the pairings the first name in the match is responsible for
creating and setting the table correctly and inviting your opponent and the TD. (Please
inv your opponent first so when the TD arrives both players are at the table and ready
to start.) You have 5 minutes starting from the time the TD posts the pairings to make
your tables, set them correctly and invite your opponent and the TD. If you don't know
how to set tables or what the settings should be please alert your TD as soon as you
can so they can help you. If you get booted from the lounge or leave it you will be
put on a 10 minute timer from the time the pairings were posted.
7. You must have some idea of the definition of all 5, 6 and 7 letter words you use here.
It doesn't have to be the exact meaning but it does have to be close enough that we can tell
you know the word when you are asked for a definition. As far as words with four letters or
less go, you can pretty much try anything. Please don't use a cheat program here. Your
win/ loss record is not as important as the friendships and the respect you will lose when
you are caught and you will be caught. This is only a game and our only goal here is to have
fun and enjoy some friendly and competitive games. It is not fair and just not right
for anyone to cheat a person trying their best to win honestly and you will be kicked and
banned from the league.
8. The TD of the tournament has the final say so on everything going on in their
tournament. If there is a problem or a conflict of any kind arises you can ask for
a HTD or Admin to come help resolve it but if none are available, the TD must keep
their tournament going and close it out in a timely fashion so please abide by the
TD's decision right then and not disrupt the flow or harmony of the tournament. If
a mistake was made or you think you were being treated unfairly it can be fixed at
a later date. Please do not become abusive to the TD (they really are doing the
best they can) or to your opponent and please do not go to the lobby and "choose up
sides". The TD is responsible to all the players that the tournament is finished in
a timely manner and everything really will be dealt with to the satisfaction of all
involved at a later time. If the TD, your opponent, or you have made a mistake or
was wrong then the staff will take the appropiate steps to ensure that mistakes are
rectified and that everyone is treated fairly and honestly. Please don't let things
get out of perspective and harm the friendships and good name you have in the league.
9. Last but not least, remember to have fun and smile and and enjoy yourself
playing this really fun game of literati and chatting with friends we have come to
know. Try to be extra friendly to the newbies so they will feel welcomed and not be
shy and help out when you can, it really will be appreciated by everyone.
