The Genesis And Growth
CBIT, a premier engineering institute in Andhra Pradesh in self -financing category was first established 1979. A group of visionaries from various professions as Engineering, Medical, Law and Management formed the CBES, out of which CBIT and laterMGIT took birth. It is a question of pride to state that CBIT is the first college in Andhra Pradesh to go for the ACITE accreditation for second time for 7 disciplines, and also to have obtained ISO9001:2000 certification from DNV.
In its relentless strive for academic excellence, CBIT has stood apart in a class of its own nationally and now internationally too. It has an international center (IC-CBIT), which is presently offering BTEC- HND (Twinning Programme) in Electronics and Telecommunications in collaboration with Wolverhampton University and Dudley College, United Kingdom.
Located at Gandipet on a sprawling campus of about 30 acres in the picturesque surroundings of the historic Osman Sagar, the serene beauty of CBIT is highly conducive to pursue academics. The best of the facilities are made available for the students-excellent infrastructure, fully equipped laboratories, well-stocked library with a total built up area of about 3,40,000 Sq.ft.
At the time of initiation the institute had offered only three degree courses in engineering with a total intake of 200 students. The institute grew by leaps and bounds and at present it is offering engineering degree courses in eight disciplines, PG courses in M.Tech./ M.E., M.C.A., M.B.A and Post Graduate Diploma in Management Information Systems and Computer Applications (PGD-MISCA). The credit of having the largest annual intake of 866 students in UG and PG programmes goes to CBIT.
The institute has 162 well qualified, highly committed and dedicated faculty out of which 45- are doctorates and many more are pursuing the same. It has also 200 experienced and committed supporting technical staff. The excellent academic results of the students in the examinations and the good number of placements are a proof of this.
CBIT stands out as an institute of great repute in its selfless pursuit of offering academic excellence and moulding professionals to face the challenges ahead.

It has modern infrastructure with a reading capacity for 350 students. It has a collection of more than 43,000 volumes of books and subscribes to more than 250 Journals including 104 Foreign Journals.
Institute Library & Information Centre has partially automated its Library House Keeping operation by using LibSys: an Integrating Library Software. It is the first Library which has got the AICTE project" Modernization and Networking of Library & Information Centre" under the MODROBS. Plans are underway to establish Digital Library & E-Learning Centres.
INDUSTRY INSTITUTIONAL INTERACTION
The college has developed a very close liaison with industry and government agencies for mutual benefit and for carrying out research projects. Our students visit the local Industries during summer vacation for practical training. MOUs have been entered into with the following Industries DMRL, DRDL, Cyber motion, INFOTECH, BHEL, ELlCO, Sri Venkateshwara Electrical & Mechanical Industries and Himalaya Electronic Services etc.
