How do I benefit from Explorers?
Being a part of any explorer post opens doors to many opportunities.
An Exploring program is a great way to meet new friends, travel around during different
competitions, learn about all the aspects of law enforcement, and ride along
side the officers.
Do the community service
projects benefit me?
Definitely! Not only do the community service projects help out the town,
but the credits can be put toward community service credits if it's something
your school requires as well as a ribbon that can be worn on the uniform.
Do Explorers have any fun?
Fun is what we're all about, we do all sorts of stuff including Special Weapons
and Tactics (S.W.A.T.)
demonstrations, we visit police and F.B.I. offices and headquarters, we get to
watch K-9 demos, we have lots of hands on classes and well trained officers to
teach the classes. We also participate in competitions that can take us to
some very fun and exciting places.
What
are some examples of activities the post has participated in?
In the past we've done training seminars, we've gone to the Connecticut Explorer
Academy, we went to the National Explorer Academy over the past four years, this gave
us a chance to travel to Arizona and Georgia, each for a week, those were a ton
of fun! We got to meet posts from around the country, go site seeing, and
compete for awards.
What can I learn from Explorers?
While in the post you'll learn to be responsible, you'll learn respect
for friends and family and most of all you'll learn about everything that goes
on in the law enforcement field.
Do Explorers get to ride along?
Yes, all Explorers have the opportunity to ride along side officers upon
completion of a short test.
Do Explorers go shooting?
All Explorers have the chance to go to the SIGARMS firing range located in
Epping, NH. Under the watchful eye of SIGARMS Academy staff and various
Exeter PD officers, Explorers get
to fire the same active duty weapons that the officers use day to day.
This training comes in handy in competitions and if the Explorer moves on to
become an officer!
Does the post compete?
We are constantly training to go to competitions. At these competitions
we compete for trophies in all sorts off activities including, but not limited
to:
