Montana

Kathryn Lien

Montana become a state on November 8th 1889, and one of its popular nicknames is “Big Sky.”  If you were to drive across this state it would take you more than 12 hours and you’d drive through plains and mountains.

Some state symbols include:

¨       State Capitol – Helena

¨       State Bird -

¨       State Flower – Bitteroot

Montana holds the record for worlds greatest temperature change in 24 hours.  When did that happen and what was the temperature change?

Driving in Montana used to be very different than driving in any of the other states because Montana didn’t have a speed limit.  Now it does.  What are the new speed limits?

One famous Montanan was Evel Knievel.  Why was he famous?  Would you want to do what he did?  Why or why not?
