ROBOCOP A n d Anne Lewis
Partners in Crimefighting
RoboCop
and Anne Lewis are partners, friends, and together they uphold the law in the streets of Detroit.
Lets talk about the first movie, RoboCop. RoboCop, a cyborg designed to stop crime, was resurrected without his permission. He once was a cop named Alex Murphy but was sadistically murdered by a gang of vicious criminals.
Anne
Lewis is a though policewoman -perhaps a rookie trying to be taken seriously-
she
is devoted to her job, that devotion makes her a loner…
They
both have a high sense of duty.
If
RoboCop, the Cyborg, is not a sexual character anymore, would he grow any
feelings for women?
Well, that’s an interesting question; if this Cyborg recovers his identity-his name-his memories and his identity is male, then his feelings will probably remain intact. His “soul” could still fall in love, with the restrictions of the machine that controls part of his brain. Remember that feelings are in some way or another always restricted by our minds (our very own machines). Writer Neumeier suggests an immediate attraction once Alex and Anne meet, a fact wouldn’t have been important if Alex hadn’t died; he was a happily married man. When they “meet” again later in the movie, note that when Lewis approaches RoboCop, she says: “ I haven’t had the chance to introduce myself..Im Anne Lewis..” RoboCop, who is walking down the hall, stops..nobody had talked to him that way. He is confused
but
how do a robot and a human bond?
