As we all know , RoboCop teams up with officer Lewis against the crime wave in old Detroit, but, who else is his ally?
and who are his enemies? heres a short list of the most important allies and enemies RoboCop has had...regarding the three theatrical releases: RoboCop 1, 2, 3 and the two TV releases: The Future of Law Enforcement (1994) and Prime Directives (2000) Who are his friends, and who are not...
ALLIES
Officer
Anne Lewis, RoboCop´s first ally and still best friend, she discovers the
man behind the metal mask and helps him recover his lost humanity; Lewis is a
good cop but one of her defects is that sometimes she thinks she is bulletproof
too!
Dr.
Tyler, a scientist that cares about Robo, and thinks OCP treats him unfairly,
she is a patient woman, she is able to explain Officer Lewis (who knows nothing
about robotics) why sometimes she cant repair her damaged partner! Robo on the
other side, prefers to run from the place and skip the explanations!
Sergeant
Warren Reed, a top cop and excellent police chief, he is in charge of Metro West,
and eventually will join Robo on his fight, even though Robo keeps disobeying his
direct orders! thats probably why he is always in such a bad mood?
Dr.
Marie Lazarus, another female scientist that cares and helps RoboCop, and a
difference of Dr. Tyler, she is not very patient with Officer Lewis; she
hates OCP too, perhaps even more than Dr. Tyler, especially the guy from
Security Concepts, Mr. Fleck..but who knows..they say there´s a thin thin line
between love and hate?
Diana
Powers, (TV, RoboCop the
Series) once a secretary, now she is a hologram and her brain controls a
computer system called "Neuro Brain" that keeps the energy of the city
running ok..she is a loner, she was victim of an experiment, pretty much like
Robo, thats maybe why theyre friends, and even though she regrets the fact
she didnt eat as many desserts as she wanted when she had a human body, she
keeps her sense of humor alive: fanatic of the 70´s she makes her own disco
parties!
Commander
John Terrance Cable, (TV,
Prime Directives) a tough (and it means tough) cop, friend and police partner of
Alex Murphy, Cable used to talk to Alex about his mean wife and his disastrous
marriage much before he became RoboCop,
but they will meet again.. Life has many surprises reserved to Mr. Cable (not
very good ones by the way)...
James
Murphy (TV, Prime Directives)
a.k.a Jimmy Murphy..Alex Murphy´s son?? why is he is a RoboCop ally?
well the future is full of surprises! easily influenced by other people at least
James was smart enough to not become a cop like his late father! thats probably
why he is still alive!
ENEMIES
Clarence
Boddicker, a vicious criminal, leader of his own gang, Alex Murphy´s
killer, he is a fan of murdering cops, swearing, selling cocaine and the Tigers of
Detroit. He is kind of arrogant: perhaps because he has powerful friends; too, he thinks he is charming with women (when he definitively IS NOT).
Probably RoboCop´s worst nightmare! Maybe one of his dreams is achieving a
Guiness Record for the person who has killed more cops in the world!..who knows?
Developed by Dick Jones, ED-209, the original "Future
of Law Enforcement", was replaced by RoboCop because of its multiple
failures, yeah, it looks scaring and can fry a person within secs, but it isnt
very smart, it is afraid of stairs and any kid can control its mechanical brain!
ED-209 has become an icon and now it is a classic nemesis of RoboCop...
Richard
Jones, once Vicepresident of OCP, he is an over-ambitious executive that wants
to take over the OCP company and to sell his ED-209´s to the military, who
cares if they work or not? Dick Jones just wants the glory (and the money). He
thinks of everything: he also has connections to the criminal world and
contributed (in a bad way of course) to the psicologic profile of RoboCop.
Eventhough he introduces ED-209 to RoboCop as "a friend of mine" we
really doubt Mr. Jones has any friends!
Dr. Juliette Faxx, an ambitious psicologist that works for OCP, without
ethics, she wants to climb up positions no matter what she has to do, even if
that means seducing the senior President of OCP, she is charge of the RoboCop2
project and will make sure the project succedds no matter what it takes...not a
big fan of combing her hair, she turns out to be very attractive for mature men!
Cain, the Nuke Lord, a drug
addict leader of his own band, that of course hates RoboCop, he thinks he is God and
likes to forgive cops who go after them "forgiving" for him means to
turn cops into pieces and throw those at the police stations (at least thats
what he did to Robo) He thinks Nuke is the key to paradise (could be, but for a
short period of time) and enjoys torture and killing, eventually he will find
someone who´s crueler than him...and he will be given power, in a twisted kind
of a way.
RoboCop2, though his friends
insist on calling him ...Cain! a drug addict cyborg created by the twisted
mind of Dr. Faxx, though we must mention Dr. Faxx only chose the brain, Dr.
Schenck designed and built the armor, but he is never credited, why? maybe
because he ISNT the one who´s dating Mr. Oldman! Of course, this big thing
also wants to destroy poor Robo, but there´s something he wants more than
destroying RoboCop..what can that be?
OTOMO,
the cyber Ninja, built by the Kanemitsu Corp. he was a good oponent to Robo, by
being much faster and agile than him..and considering the fact the Kanemitsu
built more than one!! OTOMOS like to smoke (or pretend they do) and hate
paying for stuff at convenience stores. There are rumors the Kanemitsu is suing
OCP for naming some diabolic bizarre toys "Otomo" after their ninja robots!
Commander
Paul McDaggett, leader of the Rehab Team a special division from OCP, A Nazi
kind of villain, he probably thinks his funny accent and his fake black eyebrows gives
him personality when in fact he is a cartoonish villain, and reminds us a little
of actor Steve Martin ?¿, McDaggett hates Robots and good cops, and RoboCop has
a very powerful reason to chase him to death.
Bone Machine,
(TV, Prime Directives)
a crazy vigilante
that pretends to patrol Delta City and hopes one day he becomes the "official"
defender of the city, but he has to do some dirty jobs first, of course he
doesnt like RoboCop and would do anything to make him look bad..sadly Bone
Machine is only a puppet of a high executive of OCP and he needs a good dental
job (the last thing is not relevant).
Sara
Cable, (TV, Prime Directives)
former wife of John T. Cable, she is a bitter woman that works as an
executive of OCP, (and of course she wants to take over the company), not happy
with being a lousy wife to John when he was alive, now she will keep
messing with him after his death! one of this woman´s hobbies is to use people
for their purposes and then dispose them when they aren´t useful anymore..she
seems to hate men...and women..in fact she seems to hate the whole world!
Replacement
Unit 002, (TV, Prime
Directives) or like some people would call him: RoboCable! Life has treated Mr.
Cable very bad: not only his former wife made his life miserable, but he was
killed off by his best friend, and after that, he was waken up without his
permission, as another RoboCop, programmed by Sara Cable, now he is after the
original RoboCop (what a surprise) RoboCable is still good on the inside, but he
has the bad luck to fall in the wrong hands over and over and he is always
programmed to be a RoboCop enemy!
ALLIES OR ENEMIES?
Are these characters allies or enemies of RoboCop? depends on the circumstances and the point of view..they are important characters though, in the RoboCop Universe!
htt
Bob Morton: A brilliant executive of OCP, he developed the RoboCop project. The "father" of RoboCop,
he, in some way could be considered both as his enemy and his ally: He brought Alex M. to life and gave him a second chance to avenge his death and keep restoring the law in Detroit, but he
also wiped out his memory and in some way took away his hummanity...he considers robo as a product of OCP, nothing more.. Bob likes to have private parties with bitc...Ahem!.. models; he tells the Media Robo is fun at parties and he is the hell of a guy, whereas the truth is Robo is lonely at the laboratory eating his baby food..
Johnson,
just another OCP executive, can look to be on Robo´s side or against him, after all
he cares only for his safety, he has learned to shut up and be a gray shadow in
the OCP executive board..thats probably why he walks with his head down..its
either that, or he desperately needs a chiropractor!
The Old Man, President of OCP, he is a sweet old man, and he means well..at
least thats what he looks like, lets remember a huge company is at his command,
can look to be on Robo´s side or against him..depending on the circumstances..
He wants OCP to own the city, and he has a weakness for malicious younger women.
