On August 26, 1928, Mr. Robert O'Connell was born. He lived in Rhode Island for all of his life to the age of 18 years old and he decided to join the Army after the hype of World War II. Although his parents were hesistant to let him leave, at eighteen years of age he decided that he should try to spread his wings.

Mr. Robert O’Connell was in the Army for two years, then in the Air Force for eighteen. He was born August 26, 1928, achieved the rank of Master Sgt. and retired in 1968 after serving during the Korean and Vietnam Wars. Although it was difficult and scary he was successful and had a little fun as well "drinking beer and chasing women." He would come back home with only two dollars in his pocket and a world of experiences and memories.
