SOUTHERN REGION

BATTLEFIELDS OF LILYSHANNA: The scene of an ancient war between the Elves, lead by the Mage Queen Lilyshanna, and the Orc Armies. The blood of thousands of Elves and Orcs spilled over this land as the war raged for years. The beloved Mage Queen was killed on the field of battle, but not before driving the Orcs back into the Iron Mountains.

BIRDSONG BAY: Perhaps the most fertile fishing grounds in the region.

BOKK GNAR: The Great Metropolis of the Orcs. This enormous slum city is populated by an untold number of Orcs and their foul brethren. No sane adventurer would go anywhere near this god-forsaken place. Depending on the winds, some believe you can smell the stench of the city as far away as Fish Hook.

DEADMAN'S BOG: Few adventurers have delved into this dark and treacherous bog, which is rumored to contain fearsome drakes.

EEL RIVERS: The two largest, and only navigable, waterways in the area, feed together and spill into Deadman's Bog and the Birdsong Bay. They take their names from the two large populations of eels that populate each respectively. Green Eels are considered a delicious delicacy, while Black Eels are poisonous even to the touch.

FISH HOOK: A peaceful fishing village located on the Birdsong Bay, and important trading partner of Readingdale.

FORT ELMGUARD: A walled military outpost established by Saint Bruno to provide a first line of defense and base of operations against the growing evil in the south.

GREAT GODLESS PLAINS: A grand expanse of plains, named for the heathen nomadic tribes that wander the area.

HEADLESS FOREST: Many dangers lurk in this remote forest, but none may be greater than the headhunters and cannibals that hunt its woods for prey -- both animal and human.

IRON MOUNTAINS: A large mountain range characterized by steep cliffs, jagged rock formations, and large quantities of minable iron ore. The geography is such that many regions are impassable by land travel.

KEEP OF SAINT BRUNO: A walled society which is devoted to its leader, the great warrior and cleric, Saint Bruno. Saint Bruno, believed by the residents to be the only living Saint, is a just and lawful leader, and friend of all civilized, good peoples. Saint Bruno believes he is divinely inspired to stem the tide of evil that plagues the region.

SALT FLATS: This dry bed of an ancient salt lake is believed to be unable to sustain any life.

THUNDERHEAD MOUNTAIN: An active volcano that rises singly and dramatically from the flat expanses of the Great Godless Plains.

TOMB OF AMADEA: The exact location, and even existance, of this tomb is a matter of debate among historians and scholars. Amadea was the beautiful daughter of the great Elven Mage Queen Lilyshanna.

UBALA: Also known as the "City of Savages," Ubala is populated by primitive people, believed by many to be headhunters and cannibals. Decades ago, civilized folk of the east opened lucrative trade routes with Ubala, returning with rare gems, spices and furs. However, it is rumored that recent trade caravans departing for Ubala have not returned.

VARGLANDS: Foreboding expanses of nearly lifeless, dry earth. These desolate ranges are prowled by vicious packs of wolves, wild dogs, and scavengers. Though dangerous by day, the traveller caught here after dark will likely not see the next dawn.

WILLOWVALE: Once a safe and productive mining town at the foot of the Iron Mountains, the town is now afflicted by frequent attacks by Orcs and other hideous creatures. The vital trade routes to the east have become so treacherous, few travellers dare make the journey. Some believe the small town is doomed and fear for it's population.
