Caller ID / Privacey Manager Consumer Rip Off or Service?

Caller ID cost about $96 in Ohio. It varies from state to state.

I used to dump data phone calls in the early 1980's and noticed at that time that every single call contained the from and to calling phone number, every call goes through a computer. So that information is always present on each and every call!

Therefore to charge $7 to $8.00 a month for this service may be a terrible overcharge.

Again the answer is answering machines, caller ID is useful for that shy realitive or person who won't leave messages on machined, but is it worth it?

The telezapper, etc are just more ways to get the public's money. Its only a matter of t;ime when dialer companies find ways around them and the manfactures of the anti-sales devices know this when they put their new product on the market. Also the entire idea of Caler ID is so you can ignore sales calls, (which most companies actually be happy if you did!) but, instead, the "customer" or prospect, finally picks up the phone and iratley says "your company keeps calling me every day, so take me off the list!"

Which stupidly defeats the entire "raison d'etre" or entire idea behind "Caller ID", to give you peace of mind and only answer calls you want to and ignore sales calls, or calls from strangers, etc.

Dumb, YES!

Turning a service that is supposed to give you contentment (that you can ignore Sales Call) instead creates anger and hosility. Speaking for myself, I'd rather people who will never buy our product or whatever whould NEVER answer their phone!
