Is the Industry Itself to Blame?

YES!!!

Despite most of the hatred is artifically created and stimulated by the media and politicians, the companies, themselves are partly to blame.

Companies that call different time zones could try refraining from calling a time zone between 6-6:30 or 7PM in that time zone.

Before the National Do Not Call List came into effect, automatic dialers were hanging up on more than 3% of the calles. This was rude and even terrifying to senior citizens.

Some companies use the sales people to make the dialer "run faster" instead of using the dialer to help the sales people!

Some companies fail to monitor some of their "top" sales people who may be cheating the customer. Once you are getting a lot of sales, they ignore you. That should never happen. The message, intended or not, is don't cheat, but if you "have" to, don't get caught.

The Direct Marketing Association should have taken out media adds explaining the good things that result from telephone sales, eg: Dialamerica has generated millions for good causes and telephone sales have resulted in 600 billion dollars for our economy.

And realizing some people have caller ID, they could program their dialers to dial only three days in a row, wait a week, then resume dialing on other days of the week. Also this would reduce some of their do not calls, so it is in the Company's own interest!

But that doesn't mean individual telephone sales professionals should be anyone's target or the victim of an anti-telephone sales website.
