In 2006 Rock Eisteddfod will be holding its 3rd Student Leaders Camp. Basically it's a 3 day event that runs from a Friday to a Sunday during Term 1. Dates are yet to be verified. You pay for the camp and stay two nights and three days participating in different workshops. It aims to teach kids how to construct rockas of their own or just how to help in being a student leader. It's also a great way to meet people from other Sydney schools and make friends.

For more details or if you would like to take part in this camp, follow this link to rockas website and fill out an interest form.

This upcoming Monday the 5th is the Presentation Ceremony for winning the National TV Special. Rocka themselves will be coming down to present awards and congratulate us. If you were ever thinking of being sick, this would not be the day for it!!!

RANDOM FACT
This year Northmead took out a TRIFECTA. That is, they won all three of the main events. Their local Grand Final, the State TV Final, and the National TV Final. The last two times this was done was
2003: St Columba's College "Cabaret Australia"
2000: Bomaderry High School "The Willow Pattern"

Both of these schools are held in high regard within rocka and both performances are considered by many to be the best rocka show ever. So to now be a part of that history is a great achievement.

Don't forget you have a rehearsal TOMORROW at 12:30pm at the school hall to prepare for the Parramatta Spring Festival performance.

09-10-05

TV SPECIALS ON TOADY!
Be watching Channel 9 at 3:00pm today to see the Ready2Rock TV Special Documentary. We are most likely not going to be on this one because they did not film at our school, but if we're lucky we may get a glimpse of our vid or even footage of us on the Grand Final day so tune in.
Plus you'll get a chance to see lots of other schools in rocka, plus we heard there may be some stuff on Kelso High, the school who suffered the fire right before Grand Final.

Make sure you watch next weeks State and National Grand Final TV Special at 2:00pm. This is a seperate competition where shows are judged on who has the best combination of a good show and a good video for television. Last year we won this competition . There is no guarentees we will make it on because only 10 schools from NSW make it to State, only one of those will win and make Nationals, and there are only 3 wildcards. But keep your fingers crossed and hope for the best!

14-09-05
TV SPECIALS ON SOON!
In two weeks the rock eisteddfod TV Specials called "Ready2Rock" will be aired on Channel 9. The specials have changed from past years. In previous years the first special was State TV Finals where 10 schools videos would make the special and one would win and progress to Nationals. Then the follow week would be the Nationals grand final showcasing each States winner and 5 wildcard entries.

This year the format changes. The first TV Special is a documentary that was filmed at other schools across Australia. We will very likely not be in this special however this is a great chance to see how other schools build their show and will apparently show Kelso's rebuilding after their fire. This will be aired Saturday 1st October at 3:00pm.

The second TV Special is a combined special. For NSW rocka's the first half will show 10 schools from their state that have made the State TV Finals. One will then be crowned winner. The 2nd half of the show will be the National final and show the other winners from across the country. There will only be 3 Wildcards this year. At the end of the show one school will be crowned the National winner for 2005.

To make it even more exciting instead of having trained professional judges like usual, they have celebrity judges including Toni Pearson (Funniest Home Videos) and Dave Whithill (So Fresh). This TV Special will air on Saturday 8th October at 2:00pm. Times may change so check your TV Guide.

Congrats go out to everyone for the performance for Kerri-Anne. Rocka emailed us to say how impressed they were with how professional everyone was on the day. The performance was a great success and a fantastic experience.

When school starts again make sure you are listening out for any news on the Parramatta Festival performance. There is still a possibilty that it may not happen but make sure your are listenind for any notices in roll call or on assembly!

14-09-05
WE'RE GONNA BE ON KERRI-ANNE!!!
As I'm sure many of you know Kerri-Anne Kennerly has asked us to be on her Morning show on this Wednesday to perform half of our show. Make sure you get mums and dads to tape it from 9:00am onwards.
Unfortunately there are number restrictions and we can only take so many people to fit in the venue which is disappointing but that's TV for ya!

The even better news however is that we have been asked to perform the entire show one last time as part of the Parramatta Festival happening in November. This means everyone will get one final chance to perform their winning performance for the last time. Stay tunded for more information on that.

TWO DAYS TO GO
WOOOOOOHOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
Very exciting. Everybody pumped and ready to go? Remember that Friday is about having the time of your life. Regardless of the results everyone has worked so incredibly hard and the show is honestly amazing so your winners in our eyes no matter what happens.
Remember to get a good nights sleep on Thursday cos you've got an early start on Friday and we dont want sleepy cast and crew when it comes to showtime.
If you've got time over the next two days make some little presents to give out to other schools. They love recieving that sort of thing and we love to give them out. It's a good way to meet people and make new friends quickly on the day.
Basically get ready to have the time of your life. It's gonna be awesome.

Before it all ends on Friday why not take a stroll down memory lane. We have a new photo album in Yahoo with photos from this year and some from last year. Why not check it out in your spare time?!!!!!

NEW PHOTO ALBUM

For all guests coming to the show, it starts at 7pm. But if you are running a little bit late don't worry. because northmead drew first in the performing order last year that means that we cannot go first this year so we wont be at at 7pm but after that who knows when we'll be!

AMAZING PERFORMANCES!
GO NORTHMEAD!!!!!! What an absolutely amazing show. You guys rocked that theatre like no-one ever imagined and the show was the best thing Northmead has ever created. The judges said you're performances were just fantastic "Danced like there was no tomorrow" and told us that after seeing our show they wanted to get up and dance with you.

13 AWARDS!!!!!!!!!!! Can you beleive it?! We have NEVER EVER EVER recieved so many awards in our life. It is a Northmead first. Well done. And you deserved every single one. It was just an amazing show. Each and every person should be so proud. Go to
http://www.rockchallenge.com.au for the list of all the schools awards, or you can click on
Results to see the list of awards. We will post judges comments from their speeches up very soon.

You have this Sunday off. Enjoy the break. Hopefully we will pop into the school sometime so you can see the video so be paying attention, but for now feel very proud of yourself. It was so good. GRAND FINAL HERE WE COME!!!

15-07-05

ONE WEEK!!!!
It's one week to go. HOW SCARY. Just thought everyone should know that todays rehearsal was killer. You guys needed to pull it out and you did which is great. There's still more you can give, we know, but you have one last Sunday to do so.

Remember, there's a good chance three schools could not make the final. That might mean we never get to do this again and this Sunday may be our last. We don't want that to happen so work your absolute hardest all day and show Sheridan exactly how this show will look.

DON'T WEAR YOUR T-SHIRT!!!!!. EVER!!! You should only wear the shirt twice in the next 2 months. The heat day (WASH IT THEN) and Grand Final (IF WE MAKE IT!!!) Treasure it. It's what makes you a part of the Northmead team.

13-07-05
UNDER TWO WEEKS LEFT
It's getting close now. Everyone should be very excited. Keep practicing at home. Soundtracks are now on sale at the canteen if you want to take one home to rehearse to.

Our NEXT REHEARSAL is this Sunday.

Check this out. Rocka is holding a contest for all students to be one of four rocka kids to be a Maybelline Roving Reporter on the Sydney Grand Final. He's what they had to say bout is...

REC Students can win the chance to be one of 4 Maybelline NY Roving Reporters at the REC Final Events in Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane and Adelaide, have their report feature in Girlfriend magazine AND take home a MNY cosmetic pack valued at $300. Sounds pretty cool huh? To enter go to
