Cymri am beth

I am indebted to the Miners' Welfare Fund and the miners of Deep Navigation Colliery for the Treharris Boys' Club opened in 1923. This book has been written to express my grateful thanks to them and to at least make a personal record of the club.

The club has served young people from Treharris, Trelewis, Bedlinog and up the valley to Merthyr for over seven decades. For me, it has been a university of experience working with young people, although it has seldom been easy.

In retrospect I have been enriched far beyond my wildest dreams. I could not have carried out the work without the constant support and understanding of my wife, Myra, and my two sons; my grateful thanks to them.

I also extend my thanks to the Boys' Club Management, part-time staff, the Friends' Committee, countless volun- tary helpers and those who have generously contributed to the cost of the book. For assistance in preparing this small book for press I acknowledge the help given by Mr E. A. Evans of Nelson.
