Kaptain Robbie Knievel Untitled Document

Robbie Knievel was born on May 7, 1962, to Robert (Evel), and Linda Knievel, in Butte Montana. Robbie started riding motorcycles at the age of 2 on the handlebars or on his father's lap. With Evel on the road so much Robbie, along with his older brother Kelly, and younger sister Tracey spent a lot of time at home with their mother. Alot of Robbie's childhood memories of being with his father were of riding in ambulances on trips to the hospital after some of Evel's unsuccessful jump attempts. Robbie always heard Evel say, "Look at me don't do this." Robbie never really let any of his father's crashes get to him. He made his first ramp to ramp jump at the age of 8. As he got older, Robbie would go to some of Evel's performanaces, performing his own wheelies, and showing the fans that Knievel blood really is indeed thicker than water. It could have been evident at this point that Robbie was destined to follow in his father's footsteps. When Robbie would jump, Evel was always there keeping an eye on him and never let him jump as far as he wanted to, limiting him to jumps of only 10 vans. It may have seemed that Evel was a little too concerned for young Robbie and that in turn was holding him back so at the age of 17, Robbie set out to start his own carreer as a motorcycle daredevil. Since then, Robbie has broken all of Evel's World Records. He successfully cleared the fountains at Ceasar's Palace in 1989, which, gained him reconition in his profession. He has also jumped a moving train, building to building in Las Vegas, part of the Grand Canyon in 1999. He has also jumped over 10,000 dishes for a "Dawn Dish Detergent Commercial" back in December 2003. For one of his future jumps, Robbie has been making plans at an attempt to jump the Snake River Canyon. Let's all wish him luck.

Some of his less successful jump attempts include:

Honolulu, 1989: Robbie sets down short of the landing ramp, his rear wheel missing it altogether. The bike does two flips, Robbie does one.

Atco, New Jersey, 1991: The Kaptain makes a 180-foot jump over the usual assortment of vehicles. Unfortunately, his landing ramp ends at 179. Robbie suffred, a broken leg, a broken ankle, and a concussion.
