The creature was approaching Billy at great speed. Billy covered his eyes with his hands, pretending he wasn't there.

"It's a dream", he thought to himself, "It's all a dream. Matthew will wake me up in a minute."

Through his cupped hands, Billy realised the clearing was deathly quiet. There was no sounds of the creature's thundering strides.

Billy slowly lowered his hands, the creature was standing right in front of him. It was so close, Billy could smell his breath. The boy jumped back with fright.

The creature seemed unaffected by Billy's response. He merely stood there with a large grin on his face.

"'Ello," The creature said through it's grin in a surprisingly low voice, "You must be William."

Billy's heart leapt into his throat. He couldn't find a response.

"My name's Marty." He said, "I'm a friend o' the wizard."

The creature held out his little hand, it was scuffed and his skin was torn.

Billy, still nerved, reached slowly for it. The creature took it rapidly and began to vigorously shake it with an unnecessary amount of enthusiasm. Billy forced to pull his hand back.

"You know Marzurka?" Billy said in a timid voice.

"Sure do." The creature replied, "'E's a distant cousin of mine."

Billy couldn't help staring at the creature's club. It was still poised in his hand ready to strike him.

Marty looked down and quickly pulled his club around his back. He's cheeks blushed with embarrassment, "Sorry," He said, "I thought you woz a rabbit. I 'aven't eaten in a while. Do you 'ave any food on you?"

Billy nodded, still withdrawn, and took the loaf of bread out of his bag. Marty snatched it from him and devoured it straight.

"This is the wizard's bread." He said with his mouth full, "I'd know i' anywhere."

Billy frowned, "Who are you?"

"Well," The creature hesitated, "That's quite a story."
