The small cottage nestled against the thinning trees on the edge of the dark forest. Surrounded by neat hedgerows and blooming flowers, the white walls of the farmhouse hinted nothing of it's age. The house overlooked the flourishing farm of the Moran family, much known throughout the neighbouring villages for the ripest, juiciest vegetables anyway. The Moran's had spent many happy years here, reaping the benefits of a successful farm. As time passed, Mrs. Moran bore two sons, Matthew and Billy. But tragedy had forsaken the family. An accident on the farm took the lives of the Moran parents, leaving Matthew and Billy alone. Matthew had given up his dreams of studying in the big city to take care of his little brother with the help of a family friend. Despite their struggles, they continued to live by the basic rules their parents had set all those years ago: "Do unto others as you would have them do unto you", "always brush your teeth twice a day", and "never go into the forest."
