Appearance: Daos is 59 years old (born in late winter), which is 23 in human years. His eyes are hazel, a combination of brown and yellow. He has short, light brown (almost blond) hair that is parted down the middle. His features are somewhat elven, although the patch of hair on his chin clearly marks him a half-elf. His stature is lanky, even somewhat scrawny, due to lack of physical exercise. He never goes anywhere without his purple spellbook. The robes he wears are of a plain and worn purple. On his right index finger is an amethyst ring.
Personality: Daos is very intelligent, and is always fascinated by new and exotic things. Among his many hobbies, he studies demonology (the studies of demons and other extra-planar beings), astronomy (study of stars), chronology (study of time) and history. His true devotion, though, is to his magic. He is a cryomancer, a mage who loves to dabble in ice magic. Daos seems cloaked in darkness at times. He often speaks in riddles and seems a very private person. Most people mistaken his dry humor and sarcastic wit for rudeness. However, he is quite friendly to those he knows. It is extremely difficult to get close to him--the number of people who can say they have can be counted on one hand.
History: Not much of Daos' history is well-known, and he prefers to keep it that way. He was the product of the union between an elf and a human. His father was Ravenweld Soulstaff, an adventurer and tavern owner in Spirit. He never speaks of his mother, and might not even know her. Daos moved to Tennic about 11 years ago. He bought a small, one-bedroom house and pays for it with an unknown income. One day he ran into fellow cryomancer, Anasty Bluelight who was also the guildleader of the Amethyst Eye. She managed to talking him into joining the guild and helped him refine his magical skills. He is now the second most powerful wizard in the guild.
When Governor Ratava was elected two years ago, he chose Daos as his Advisor of Foreign Affairs, partly because of Daos' extensive knowledge of other cultures, partly because both of them share a general dislike of Elves, and partly because putting a half-elf on staff gave the Elven Council a headache.
About a year ago, he ran into an old friend of his from Spirit, Alesandese Ralangrane. The two became close again, and he made her his apprentice, teaching her the fundamentals of magic and a few cantrips.
His relations in the guild have varied. He slew the sprite Karalathis in a wizard's duel, helped in causing the elf Kerimil to quit, and constantly picks on the overweight transmuter, Fabius. However, he has become rather close to the diviner half-elf, Kahlan, although he doesn't see her very often.
Daos has a companion known as Shifa--an ice pixie. She is very protective and loving toward Daos, although he tends to brush her off as nothing more than a useful tool. She becomes extremely jealous and even defiant at times, but quickly buckles under when Daos threatens to dispel her back to her home plane on the Para-Elemental Plane of Ice.
Daos trekked back to his hometown of Spirit to say goodbye to a dying friend. The result of this trip seems to have changed him some, and he seems more open and even friendly to others. However, his heart remains in turmoil, despite all this.
Recently, Daos suddenly quit his job as Advisor and left the city. No one really knows why he left or where he went...or if he will return.

With the use of this spell, the caster begins to radiate extreme cold from his or her body. This has two effects. The first is that the caster is no longer able to feel natural cold at all and makes them totally immune to magical cold. The second effect is it causes anyone near by to suffer 3d6 points of cold damage. Characters who make a save versus spell only suffer half damage. This spell will effect anyone (other than the caster) within 10 feet, whether friend or foe.
The
material component for this spell is a piece of an Ice Toad's tongue.
