the Hulk

The first thing I want to address about the Hulk movie was the number of people who thought it looked fake from the previews and commercials. Let me just say this, in opening, so I don't have to repeat it all throughout this review. The way that the Hulk himself was brought into this movie was great. He didn't at all look like a computer image thrown into an otherwise real setting, he looked much like Eric Bana (aka Bruce Banner) grown larger and painted green. It's kind of hard to imagine, but the way that this was pulled off was amazing. The resemblence was uncanny.

Now onto the movie itself.

The Hulk tells the story, literally from the birth of Bruce Banner, and up until he actually has a lab accident which begins to trigger his Hulk powers. If the plot becomes a little too complex for you (or just too hard to follow because it's a lot longer than it seemed to me), there is a lot of action in this movie. The Hulk does stuff like bite the top off of a missle and throw it back at a tank, use a guy like a baseball bat to hit another guy, and jump high in the air to land with big thuds.

There are also a lot of neat camera angles, at times there are even multiple boxes filled with pictures on the screen, giving it more of a comic book feel. I loved that part.

Is this movie better than Spider-Man? I don't know. Why compare such things that are different, but equally great?

There is also a subplot throughout this with Bruce's dad, and of course Betty Ross and her father. It seems like this movie is about fathers a lot. But moreso, it's about rage. That anger building up inside of you that you want to let out but just don't know how to exactly. Well, the Hulk lets that anger out for you.

This movie was something incredible to look at. It was truly a sight you must see to believe. It did not disappoint one bit and actually lived up to all of my expectations of it and more. Parents must be cautioned though, as this movie may not sit well for children suffering from A.D.D. as it is an adventure more than a movie, and no one wants that little kid sitting behind them, asking their parent questions constantly.
