X-Men. Spider-Man. The Hulk. Daredevil. The Punisher.
While all of these names are now movies based on comic book characters, they all share one common thead: They are all based on Marvel comic book characters. Hellboy is perhaps not the first, but it is the most recent movie I can remember being based on a comic book character who is not from Marvel.
I've never read Hellboy before because I don't really care for Dark Horse (give me Marvel and that's all I really need), but I was excited to see this movie. The special effects looked great and boy were they.
This movie gives you the whole back story of the character Hellboy, then gives you another plot which is the basis of the story. Between the action, comedy and just overall coolness, I don't ever have to wonder now why this movie opened at number one.
Seriously, if they decide to make a sequel to this, I will definitely be there to see it.
