Introduction

To complete this media project, students will research information on one of the 49 states (California will be used as an example). Research will be done by utilizing the internet to find out specific information on their state. The information will then be used to create a PowerPoint slide show presentation to the class.
 


 
Project Outline

Every student will be responsible for producing their own PowerPoint slide show. Listed below is the information that must be included in the slide show. The order of the slides for the presentation are:

Slide 1: Name of state and image of state.
Slide 2: State capital and state nickname.
Slide 3: Name of state bird and image of bird.
Slide 4: Name of state flower and image of flower.
Slide 5: Interesting fact about your state.
 


 
Unit Calendar

Week 1: Introduce project to the class, show California example. Students choose their state and begin researching online.

Week 2: Research online. Explain how to save images on to disk.

Week 3: By Friday of this week all research should be completed. All images should be saved on their disks.

Week 4: Begin working on PowerPoint slides 1 - 3. Conduct peer editing conferences.

Week 5: Begin working on PowerPoint slides 4 - 5. Conduct peer editing conferences.

Week 6: By Friday, first draft of complete project should be done for teacher editing conferences.

Week 7: Creation of final draft of PowerPoint presentation on computer, including the inserting of images.

Week 8: Presentations to begin of PowerPoint State Projects.
