Though he's been ally and counselor to both Highfather of New Genesis and Darkseid of Apokolips, Metron is first and foremost a scientist, one whose true loyalty is to he pursuit of knowledge at any cost. Which side he will ultimately choose between the warring New Gods is irrelevant. For now, Metron's sole purpose is to traverse space and time in his Mobius Chair and penetrate the Source Wall (the end of the unvierse) to understand the intrinsic nature of the universe.
However, he has sided more with New Genesis, Earth and the current Justice League more offen. He has helped the League three times - helping them fight the time-being named Glitch and then Time Trapper's time-spanning Injustice Gang in 2071 and again when Brainiac and Darkseid joined forces in 2072.
