Airsoft is a sport similar to Paintballing only that you use 6mm plastic bbs instead of messy and expensive paintballs. these airsoft guns are also modelled after the real steel ones. This makes it a little more realistic and much funner. Many of these gun contain a unique hop up system which puts a backspin on the bb so it flys straighter and farther than you would think. There are 3 basic types of airsoft guns:
Gas Guns:These are airsoft guns that are operated by gas that projects the bb at amazing speeds. This works by a hammer hittin a valve which lets in a certain amount of compressed gas into the chamber which pushes the bb outta the barrel. Most gas guns are pistols altho there are some Submachine guns and carbines. Many have a blowback feature. This means that when u shoot a metal slide actually recoils back and forth to provide a very realistic feeling. These blowbacks are around twice the price of an equivalent performing non blowback. These gas guns Use this green or red gas that airsoft retailers sell. You can also use airduster gas found in your local department store altho it is much less powerful.
Airsoft Electric Guns:These are the most expensive and the most popular of all the airsoft guns. AEG's are operated by a battery and motor that are inside the gun itself. These usually shoot semi and full auto which is very effective in a skirmish. Their accurate ranges without any upgrades are just slightly better than springer rifles. But you can upgrade AEG's to shoot almost as far as sniper rifles. These also cost in the 300-500 range or more. I personally didnt have much experience with these so i can provide no further information.
