Hammer® Men's League Rules

2010/2011

1.Bowling Fees are $14.00 per night: Lineage is $9.60 with $4.40 going to prize fund.

2.Team sponsor fee is $35.00. USBC sanction fee is $15.00 ($10.00 for national dues and $5.00 local dues).

3.Team shortages: An individual may not be more than 2 weeks behind in league dues and or a team delinquent of $70.00 or more. Any delinquent fees from the previous week must be paid the following week by the time the treasurer receives the money at the end of the fifth frame of the first game. All points will be automatically forfeited for shortages not made up by this time. Delinquent teams will be ineligible to receive any awards during the delinquency. Any delinquent funds will be deducted from the final prize money. Forfeited points will be awarded to the opposing

4.Any bad checks will be deducted from the team’s prize money after 32 weeks of bowling. Any bank charges associated with a bad check will be deducted from the team’s prize money. NO CHECKS THE LAST WEEK OF BOWLING.

5.The league shall consist of only male bowlers.

6.The season will begin on 9/02/10 with practice time at 6:15 pm and start time at 6:30 pm.

7.Bowlers may not practice on the scheduled lanes from 4pm until starting time. Any violation will result in the bowler being suspended for the night but he shall still pay the regular bowling dues for the week.

8.The season shall consist of 32 weeks of bowling. There will be two halves of 16 weeks each and a position round every 8th week. There will be a 33rd week for a championship roll-off and the optional handicap singles tournament.

9.A team may bowl with three regular bowlers, no fewer. Blind score for an absent bowler or a vacancy is 180 in the average column and 170 for the score.

10.The league will use an eight point system. Two points per game and two for series.

11.Bowlers not ready to bowl by the end of the fifth frame shall use their “blind” score for that game. Late bowlers can “catch up” the fifth frame of the first game.

12.Members of one team cannot sub on another team.

13.Rotation of players is not allowed except in an emergency. The players who start the match must finish it.

14.Team handicaps are based on 1000. The handicap for all teams is 80% of the difference of the team average subtracted from 1000 or more. (Their handicap is 0). No fractions or decimals are to be used in handicaps---- multiply by .8 and cross off the decimal. If a team’s average is more than 1000, 100% of the amount over 1000 is added to the other team’s handicap. If both teams are over 1000, the spot will be 80% of the difference between them.

15.Individuals will use last year’s league average for the first nine games or the highest USBC average as of last year if they did not bowl in the league last year. Any bowler not bowling for the last two years will establish over three games.

16.No new bowlers will be admitted the last two weeks of each half without the approval of the team captains.

17.Teams that cannot bowl on a regularly scheduled night must notify the Secretary and the opposing team at least 24 hours ahead of time. Make-up games may be pre-bowled within one week before the scheduled match. The opposing team has the option of bowling unopposed or to bowl at the time of the scheduled pre-bowl. A captains’ meeting must be held to request a team pre-bowl the last month of the season.

18.An individual may not pre-bowl more than two times without the approval of the team captains. If an individual pre-bowls more than two times without approval, their scores will deemed illegal and count as zeros. Individuals must contact the Secretary with the date and time of the pre-bowl at least 24 hours in advance. 20.The league will award a sponsor’s and five individual trophies to the first place team. The winning team may opt to receive jackets or a sum of $50.00 in place of trophies. Individual plaques will be awarded for high game, series and average.

21.Prize money will be awarded for team position. Additional prize money will be awarded as follows:

20.A “Most Improved Bowler” plaque will be given but individuals must have bowled in the league last year.

21.No individual or team can win more than one prize in each class. A minimum of 2/3 of the scheduled games bowled is necessary to qualify for the individual awards.

22.The Secretary and Treasurer positions will be performed by the same person with a fee of $40.00 per team.

23.The league will pay for up to six meals on a team at the league banquet. Teams will get money for meals not ordered. Individuals will not get a refund on food if they fail to show up to the banquet.

24.If a league officer receives a complaint of “unsportsmanlike conduct or rowdyism”, the team captain of the accused will receive a warning. A second complaint will prompt a team captains meeting with a bowling center representative present. A third complaint could be grounds for dismissal from the league.

25.No more than ten bowling balls are permitted on the rack at one time.

26.Any rules not covered will be settled by the USBC Rule Book. Any grievances not resolved will be settled by the Board of Directors (Team captains and league officers) and or the Portage County USBC BA.

27.The league will send flowers to the family of any deceased member of the league. A collection will be taken to cover the expenses and any extra will be sent to the family.

28.The league banquet will be held on the 1st Thursday after the Championship roll-off. The menu will be voted on by members of the league.
