A malibu treatment can be used to treat a number of problems associated with the hair. The most common reason people get a malibu treatment done is to strip the hair of any hard water and mineral build up, that is caused by rust and minerals in the water that their hair is washed in on a regular basis. A malibu treatment is also good for people who spend a lot of time in cholorine, such as swimmers, whose hair picks up the cholorine in the pool water. A malibu is also excellent for removing product build up from the hair, since many products on the market can leave residue on the hair shaft, or to rid the hair of any environmental build up.

Hair that has rust and mineral build up, sometimes takes on an orange appearence. This is especially common on people with blonde hair or highlighted hair.

Cholorine can be detected in the hair since the hair sometimes takes on a light green appearence and also when the hair is washed in normal water the smell of cholorine can sometimes still be present.

People with white or gray hair sometimes notice a yellowing affect in the hair. This is usually caused by product build up and environmental build up.

Malibus are safe for the hair (some may expierence slight haircolor fading, if the hair has been color treated. This is usually very minimal) and is recommended to be done every 4-8 weeks for best results. In some cases, a malibu may be recommended every week or two for best results at first, but with constant care, usually can be done every 4-8 thereafter. Hair is left softer and shinnier and easier to maintain.
