Special Needs Students |

I have taught special needs students for almost three years. Only
recently have I realized that the activities I use in this context might be
useful to others. Thus this portion of the site
is underdeveloped somewhat. Bear with me, there is more to come. |

This activity is simple, and
fun, and makes your students practice both greetings and the basic colours,
again and again. Each student is given a colour to be, and a strip of
stickers to use. (I like to match the colour of the stickers to the students’
colours, but you needn’t do so.) Students circulate the room, and janken with
their classmates. Whoever wins the janken says, “I am [the name if their
colour in English]. What are you?” Their classmates answers “I am [the the
name of their colour]. The janken winner then asks the loser for a sticker,
and receives it. They then move to another partner. You can set whatever time
limit you like. I give small prizes to any student who gets one of each
colour, and to the student who gets the most stickers. It’s more fun if you
and the JTE join in the game, too. |
