Battle Of Vicksburg

In the May and June of 1863, Mag.Gen.Grant’s armies converged on Vicksburg, a town on the Mississippi River. They trapped a Confederate army, Conf. Gen. John Pemberton’s to be exact. Pemberon surrendered after long seige operations. This was one of the most brilliant military plans ever. The loss of Pemberton’s army and the control the North gained of the Mississippi River split the Confederate states in half.
