"Oh, God. Does this look like I’m faking to you, you stupid blonde?!" She swore, heaving herself onto the floor. She dragged herself into a sitting position and glared at him. "Turn around." She ordered, he blushed and did as he was told. She pulled her shirt off, ripped off the bottom and put it back on. She took the ripped-off portion and tied it around her upper leg. "Ugh! Ah, God-dammit!" She grunted, sweat running off her face. "It’s worse than I thought, I can’t feel from my knee down, Those fucking Oz pilots are gonna pay for this." She growled. She stood shakily, ignoring the pain, and limped over to Quatre. "Help me. Help me." She grabbed his shoulders and brushed a strand of hair from her face. "Help me get to the hopital, Ok?". He turned and looked at her.

"Wuh…What’s wrong?" He asked, staring into her golden eyes. "You hurt?"

"Unh…" She grunted and grabbed her leg, falling foreward as the pain overtook her. He caught her in his arms and helped her up. She grimaced. "You could say that."

"Here, lean on me, I’ll help you." He put one arm around her waist and had her put her arm on his shoulder.

"Ah, didn’t know you felt this way." She grinned through her sweat and pain. "Unh..guess we’re engaged now, huh?"

"No." He smiled. "C’mon." She limped as he helped her to the clinic. Laying her down on the bed, he noticed a small gold sun-shaped locket around her neck. "What is this..?" He asked, reaching foreward, she grabbed the trinket and shoved him away.

"Don’t!" She gasped, then fell back. "Please don’t touch it, its has the operating chip to my Gundam in it *grimace *..just, don’t…"

"Oh, just…just lay back and take deep breaths, I’ll go get Heero." Quatre turned to leave but a noise she made startled him. She was staring at the locket saying No softly. Then she turned to her face to the wall and looked at something else he couldn’t see. "Leighlei what is it?" She looked at him. For a moment, her eyes were wide with fear as she glanced around, then she furrowed her brow and buried her head in his chest.

"They’re coming for me. Don’t let them take me!" She wailed, he was surprised, but put his arms around her.

"If anyone comes for you, or tries to take you, I will fight them with my life, I promise." He whispered. She looked up at him. Her golden eyes were wet but there was a twinkle in them. She threw her arms around his neck and hugged him.

"You have no idea how much that helps!" She breathed. "No idea…" Quatre smiled and got up.

"I’ll go get Heero. He’ll help that leg of yours." She nodded and lay back, trying to take deep breaths. The pain was like a fire, an endless open fire raging in her face. She felt like she was falling into an abyss of blood, filled with blood. She was scared. She could faintly make out a sound of footsteps, when she glanced at the door everything was diagonal and there were two of each object, even the walls. She could see four boys, two with blonde hir, two with brown hair. The one with the brown hair was serious. He walked over to her and put his hands on her leg. Everything came back into focus and turned sharp red as she cried out in pain.

"Can you hear me?" Heero asked. She nodded.

"Yes." Her voice was small and breathey.

"Ok, here’s what I want you to do. Stay concious. I can’t put you under anestetic because we don’t have any. I want you to keep your eyes on Quatre, and don’t let them close. Tell me when it hurts, ok?"

"Yeah.." She whispered, he bent over her leg without a word and she sucked in a sharp breath. The pain shot through her like a thousand knives and she wondered how much glass was in her leg. She wondered how burned it was, how much blood it was going to give before the abyss fillled. Everything began to triple up and her vision began to fade. The abyss wasn’t so scary after all, the blood was warm and thick, and tasted of salt in her mouth. Her mouth was full of blood. Her mouth was like the abyss. Another, more intense pain shot up her left side.

"Stay with us." Quatre was in a chair beside her bloody cot, stroking her bloody head. She wondered if he wanted to go swimming in the hot blood with her? If he would like the taste? She smiled faintly. Yes. Everyone would like the taste of the blood. It tasted good. It felt warm and thick as it went down her throat. She realized with a great satisfaction she had swollowed a mouthful of scarlet blood, and wanted more. But she was no longer in the abyss, she was in a heart-shaped pool filled with watery red blood. She didn’t mind, a little water never hurt anyone. But she realized in horror it only came from her leg, her leg had filled the pool. She opened her mouth to scream, but instead the blood bubbled up in her throat. She managed one word, and it got caught in her throat and gargled up with it.

"Help…" She muttered. Heero glanced up.

"Quatre! Keep her awake!" He ordered.

"I’m trying but you can’t just tell her to stay alive! That’s not how it works!" He retorted, shaking her. "Wake up, Leigh, wake up!" he cried. "Please!" Leigh opened her eyes.

"Quatre…" She mumbled. Quatre shook her again. "Leigh! Listen to me! Come back to us!" Heero bent over Leighlei’s face and stared into her eyes.

"Focus on Quatre’s voice, Leigh. I’m almost finished and then you can sleep, I promise." He instructed, then went back to work. Leigh coughed.

"She’ll get you…NatakoKito is c-coming…?" She slurred. She was drunk. Drunk with blood. The abyss had turned black. The blood was black. She was falling and the wind rushed up at her, cold and strong. Falling, falling, falling, and all the time Quatre and Heero were shouting at one another, echoing throughout her being like wind chimes,

‘Keep her awake!

‘She…she wont open her eyes!’

‘Oh, God leigh wake up!’ But the blood filled her ears and she couldn’t hear anymore. She didn’t mind. The blood was warm and it soothed her aching leg, it was all that mattered at the moment.

*^*^*^*^*^*^*

Leighlei woke up to a stinging sensation in her leg.

"AGH!" She shot upright and stared down at it. A white bandage with tiny brown stains down the front covered the entire thing. She sighed in releif and flopped back down. At least she still had two legs. She sighed. The abyss was all a hallucination. She grimaced at the thought. Taking a deep, shaky breath, she closed her eyes. It was so sore it hurt to breathe. Heero walked in.

"How is she?" He asked Quatre, who was still by her side, but asleep. She glanced at him.

"Uh….she’s fine.." She imitated his voice and Heero’s worried, tired expression melted and he smiled. "Eep! You smiled! CALL 911! Heero you want to lie down? It hurts the first time I know." She grinned.

"No, I just…thought we lost you back there. You stopped breathing and then…and then…you just…" He trailed off as Quatre woke up.

"Hey sweetie, long time no see." She smiled and patted his hand gently. His face bightened and her bent over and hugged her. "Ow, not so tight! Youll break whats left of my ribs! Ohow!"She squealed, although the happiness was evident on her face.
