During the 1st dynasty are 3100bc, papyrus, now known as paper was invented. During the third Dynasty, around 2686bc, the first pyramid was built. During the sixth dynasty, around 2345bc, the last major monument was built during the old kingdom dynasty called the Pepy the 2nd. During the seventh and eighth dynasties, the Old Kingdom started to collapse suffering with famine, civil disorder, and a higher death rate.
