Socom II Mega pic update!
Weapons:
Ok, so i figured i'd make a nice image section for everyone to check out all these new things in socom 2. Next to the image is a description of what's important about these screen caps...im sorry for the low quality, my capture device is old...

Ok, here's something different: Terrorist silenced weapon...not weapons, but weapon. IMO, the beta version of the weapon stinks...muzzle flash gives you away and its power is way too low.

This...is..SWEET!! This is the Seal/Spentz natz version of the ak series assault rifle...it rivals the aks74 in terms of raw power and fire rate. It also seems to be more accurate. In the beta we can only play with this on the russian maps, but its still awesome.

None of these are particularly special...the sasr is neat, but doesnt have the scope depth of the m82. The terrorists now have the m16 and m63 at their disposal on every level.

C4 is selectable on just about every map...lots more RANDOM blowing up than before. Mines rock. they're hard to see, but easy to blow up, so they are well balanced. I think claymores can also be detonated by an exploding grenade too...but im not 100% sure. The thermal scope shows up on night maps. Its cool, but reduces clearly visible distance by quite a bit. The standard scope tends to show up more clearly in s2, so i will probably stick with that.

These are the grenade launchers from socom 1 single player. They only appear on certain levels in the beta, but they have become the preffered method of "4D-ing" a map, since they hold 6 rounds, and m67 grenades come in 3's now.

Here are the SHOTGUNS!! The first two are terrorist guns, and are both full auto. They rock up close, and at first people thought they were cheap. But after playing a couple weeks, people learned to keep their distance from a shotgunner and then the weapon is useless. It is nice, however, in close quarters. The seal shotgun isnt fully auto...which sucks, but its a definate 1 shot kill.

Three new assault rifles. The RA14 is similar to the IW90(not shown), both of which are seal weapons a bit more powerful than the m4. The STG (the tan weapon) is the infamous "Fa-Mas" assault rifle from metal gear solid. Its nice...better than the 552 but no aks74.
Login/Server changes A plenty!

First up, Updates. This will allow for future patches and new maps A la EQOA. Nice way to further prevent cheaters too...and the rumors are that this will also be the way to download maps come march when the HDD is released. We can't update in the beta, but its still neat to see this feature. The universe screen puzzled me...I really hope they dont divide socom 2 up like eqoa, with like a 10,000 person limit. After this screen you choose your log in name, you can have 3 names saved, but no more per universe. I dunno if these names will be transferrable to other universes. Lastly is DNAS. The anti-cheating godsend that sony uses in eq and madden. Despite the rumors, this thing wont be hacked, and if it is, all zipper has to do is make an update patch that eliminates the hack.

Server listings are somewhat the same, except you are sometimes, but rarely limited by rank. There is also now a clan server for matches. the servers still typically hold about 265 people. Clan info rocks!!! This was a beta clan made up of old AoD boys and BS guys. The red and green dots to the left symbolize whether or not that player is online. If it's green he's on and all the way to the right of his name is the server and room he is in. Note: in beta you can see the server chat in game. This sucks at first, but its nice because soad can say to me "go to my new room gundam" if im playing in a full room, and i can read that and leave to meet up with him. You can also PM someone, and that message appears in red. Blue messages are usually vote messages, and the standard chat color is white.
