The Dragoon is a mixed bag, to be sure. The Dragoons abilities are great, the 2 hour is one of the best in the game, but the dragoons overall usefullness in the party is hard to determine. A great dragoon is most often dictated by the support job he or she takes on. A warrior sub allows the dragoon to become a great tank. A theif sub allows for maximum items and agility. No Dragoon should ever try to combine with a mage job. Dragoons have some very cool abilities: The wyvrn and jump abilities are extremely good for damage dealing.
Strategy/ mini FAQ
Dragoons are mele damage dealers. Much like samurais, their role is not to be a primary tank, but to do damage with their unique abilities. A grave mistake is to take away from mele combat by adding a mage subjob. Also, be sure to have your Wyvrn out as much as possible, not only does it look cool, it takes 2 hours to get again, so keep it alive! The wyvrn has decent damage abilities, as well as your jump ability. Remember, you are hate control so the mob doesnt attack a mage, but you cannot be a main tank, so be sure you know how to walk that fine line of hate control. All in all, this is an easy job to party with, but not a very rewarding one.
