Lucky First Shot
My partner and I had talked about becoming parents for a long time. We started by searching the web for advice or expertise, if that was possible. Unfortunately, we came up pretty slim. We then began looking at sperm banks online and reading about their policies, restrictions, and donor requirements. Much to our dismay, we only found one bank near us that would allow us to pick up sperm for a home insemination. Only thing was that they didn't retire their donors. That basically means that they didn't put any restrictions on how many successful pregnancies came from one donor, and consequently there could be hundreds or thousands of children with half of the same genetics as our baby. So, we started going through the phone book looking for infertility specialists. Once we found one that we liked, we began all the testing and got started. With all the testing, which wasn't really painful so much as it was tedious, we were beginning to wonder if we should have just asked if our gynocologist did inseminations. In the end, we were very happy with the choices we made. I found out that my cycle wasn't properly alligned with the thickening of my uterus. So, if we would have gotten pregnant, I would have stood a chance at having a miscarriage, and that would have been a horrible experience. The doctor recommended I supplement my diet with an prescribed horomone. We tested the next cycle and the biopsy was good. The next month I was inseminated and well - 9 months later we delivered a little girl.
