Radiography - My chosen career path
A radiography is the person who takes your x-ray, gives you an ultrasound, a breast screen, or even a CT or MRI scan.
They are concerned with medical imaging, gaining pictures of the body to help doctors diagnose.
This is Diagnostic Radiography, which I am studying. There is also Theraputic Radiography, which is concerned with the treatment of cancer through radiation therapy.
The patient contact element is much greater in theraputic work, usually one would work with a patient through their period of diagnosis, then treatment and then death or remission. This must be very hard work emotionally, and this is why I chose Diagnostics, day to day, the experience of doing the job is very different. You see many different people in one day and usually only once.
The X-ray picture on my front page of the skull and the phone is a real x-ray!
Here are some relevant links if you wish to learn a bit more. This first one is especially good for explaning the job.
